The project activities and the exhibition were financed by the European Union NextGenerationEU.
Raised in a small mountain village, I experienced the slow disappearance of local traditions that were once passed down from generation to generation. Lace, which was once made by the women of my family, became a medium connecting the past with the present.

Learning it was a process of “corporeal recollection” of returning to my own roots that were forgotten as a result of modernisation and the development of a consumerist world, in which rapid progress and immediate effect are the measure of success.

The series consists of six works in which archival photographs from family albums which I transformed and combined with elements inspired by Koniaków lace. Craftsmanship acts as a bridge between these two realities, it is a metaphor of the process of reconstructing bonds - both family and social. It is as well a reflection on the contemporary culture of hyperproductivity, which ignores slow, laborious processes in favour of immediate results and progress in a post-capitalist context.
